The technology

LED light is incoherent. It emits light in all directions simultaneously, and the moment it contacts skin, it scatters. Penetration depth is 0-2mm. VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) diodes emit coherent light: focused, directional, and able to stay concentrated as it penetrates. The RX1 reaches 10-15mm. LED stays at the surface.

Irradiance is the power density of light energy delivered per square centimetre of skin, measured in mW/cm2. It determines whether a device delivers enough energy to trigger a cellular response. Clinical research identifies 80+ mW/cm2 as the threshold for real photobiomodulation. The RX1 delivers 83-95 mW/cm2, independently verified. Most LED masks deliver under 50 mW/cm2 and never publish the figure.

1064nm is the deepest-penetrating wavelength in the RX1, reaching 10-15mm subdermal. This is where deep collagen remodeling, vascular improvement, and structural tissue repair occur. It is used in professional laser clinic treatments. Most home devices exclude it because the diodes are expensive. The RX1 includes 20 dedicated 1064nm VCSEL diodes.

236 total outputs across four wavelengths: 72 VCSEL at 665nm, 72 VCSEL at 850nm, 20 VCSEL at 1064nm, and 72 LED at 460nm. The 460nm is the only LED output. The remaining 164 outputs are VCSEL laser diodes.

Mode 1 targets the surface: it addresses bacteria, surface inflammation, and collagen stimulation at the dermal level. Mode 2 works deeper: it is designed for cellular inflammation reduction and deep collagen remodeling. Each mode runs for 5-10 minutes. Five sessions per week. The two modes can be used in the same sitting or at separate times depending on your protocol.

Professional clinic laser treatments typically operate in the 80-120 mW/cm2 range for photobiomodulation. The RX1 operates at 83-95 mW/cm2: inside the same therapeutic window. The difference is access and cost. Clinic sessions cost $200-400 each. A full protocol at a clinic costs $2,400+/year. The RX1 costs $450 once.

Using the RX1

Yes, with one exception. Apply the RX1 to clean, dry skin before any products. Light penetration is reduced when serums, oils, or moisturisers sit on the skin surface. After your session, your skincare routine applies as normal. Avoid using the RX1 directly over active retinol or strong chemical exfoliants - give those products 24 hours before a session if skin is sensitised.

No. The RX1 is designed so that no eye protection is required during normal use. You do not need to keep your eyes closed. For best practice, power the device on while it is already positioned on your face and avoid making direct eye contact with the diodes. If you are light-sensitive or have a diagnosed eye condition, consult your doctor before use.

Yes. The RX1 is optimised for facial use but the same wavelengths are effective on any skin surface. The 850nm and 1064nm modes in particular are widely used for joint, muscle, and tissue recovery. Hold the device against the target area during Mode 2 sessions for body applications. [TWEAK: confirm if the device physically works this way]

The RX1 charges via USB-C. A full charge takes 3.5 hours. A fully charged device delivers approximately one week of sessions at the standard protocol. The mask displays a red light when the battery is low and a green light when fully charged.

The protocol is designed for five sessions per week. Missing one session occasionally will not significantly affect results. Do not double up sessions to compensate. Consistency over 100 days matters more than perfect daily adherence. If you miss a week or more, resume where you left off - the protocol continues to work from the last session.

Results

Skin texture typically improves in weeks 2-3. Firmness and fine line softening becomes visible at weeks 4-6. Full collagen remodeling is measurable by weeks 8-12. The 100-day protocol is designed around the biology, not a return window.

Yes. The 460nm wavelength in Mode 1 targets P. acnes bacteria at the follicular level, the primary driver of inflammatory acne. The 665nm wavelength in Mode 1 reduces dermal inflammation. The 850nm wavelength in Mode 2 accelerates tissue repair. Run Mode 1 daily for acne-focused protocols.

Yes. The photobiomodulation mechanism works at the cellular level and is not skin-tone dependent. The RX1 has been tested across skin types. If you have a diagnosed skin condition, consult your dermatologist before beginning any light therapy protocol.

Safety & certifications

FDA 510(k) is the regulatory clearance pathway for medical devices sold in the United States. It requires independent review of safety and efficacy data, and demonstration that the device is substantially equivalent to a legally marketed predicate device. It is not self-certification. The RX1 has cleared this process. Many competitor devices have not.

The RX1 holds FDA 510(k) clearance (registration #3015287734), ISO 13485 certification issued by BSI, CE marking under EU medical device directives, and UKCA certification for the UK market. Every registration number is published and independently verifiable. If you want the original documents, email us and we will send them.

Do not use the RX1 if you are pregnant, have active cancer, epilepsy triggered by light, or a diagnosed photosensitivity condition. Do not use over open wounds, active skin infections, or areas with recent filler or injectable treatments. If you take photosensitising medication, consult your prescribing doctor before beginning any light therapy protocol. If in doubt, consult a medical professional before purchase.

Guarantee & returns

Collagen synthesis takes 4 to 12 weeks. A 30-day window closes before the biology can respond. A 60-day window barely reaches the midpoint of the collagen cycle. We give you the full 100-day protocol to evaluate results. If you follow the protocol and see no change, contact us for a full refund.

If you have completed the 100-day protocol and seen no visible improvement, email support@revogenlab.com. No forms, no conditions, no return required. We will process your refund within 5 to 7 business days. The guarantee applies to protocol-adherent use over the full 100 days as outlined in the 100-Day Protocol PDF sent with your order confirmation email. It does not cover devices returned unused or without completing the protocol. If you cannot find your protocol PDF, email us and we will resend it.

The RX1 carries a 12-month hardware warranty against manufacturing defects. Coverage works as follows: in the first 3 months, we will ship a full replacement to you at no cost - you do not need to return the device. From months 3 to 6, we provide free parts and repair guidance; if the device cannot be repaired, a replacement is available at 50% off. From months 6 to 12, we provide free parts and labor support, with a replacement available at 30% off if needed. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, unauthorised disassembly, or physical accidents. Contact support@revogenlab.com with a description of the issue and we will confirm next steps within 1 to 3 business days.
